Health and Safety (Safety Signs and Signals) Regulations place great emphasis on the labeling of pipework. The regulation states that pipeline-making labels and tapes are required at points where employees are likely to be exposed to the contents of the pipework, for example at sampling or filling points drain valves, and flanging points, and either side of walls and barriers. BS 1710: 2014 (plus revisions) Identification of pipeline and services and BS 4800 guide the use of colors and signs to identify the content of the pipework and its associated risk.
GRACE LABELS Probably has the largest stocked range of pipeline identification tapes in the world to assist you in complying with these standards. We also have some colored tapes in stock in continental RAL colors.
GRACE LABELS standard indoor pipeline identification tapes are resistant to water, steam, and most chemicals.
Pipe color coding is not a complicated process, especially if industry standards are used. There are many standards out there from a variety of sources, but by far the most popular are the ANSI/ASME A13.1-1982 & 2007 standard and BS 1710: 2014 & BS 4800. This standard explains colors, text, size, and placement of pipe marking labels.
